WRITE A STORY FOR CHILDREN

The Academy of Children’s Writers has announced its 27th annual Write a Story of Children Competition. For more than half a century this has been recognised as the most prestigious competition for unpublished writers of children’s books in the country. The first prize is £2000 with cash prizes also for second and third places. Entries may either be short stories of up to 2000 words or the opening 2000 words of a longer story.

STRICTLY DINE AND DANCE

Based on the hit TV Show, Strictly Come Dancing, celebrity contestants are partnered with professional dancers. Couples dance to a panel of judges who rate their efforts... but it’s the audience who get the final say!

DRAWING INSPIRATION AT BALTIC

This February half term, families are invited to create line drawings with Baltic artists. Based on the theme of the goals of athletes taking part in the London 2012 Olympic Games, young artists can make their own drawings and designs in this large scale, participatory activity. Drawings made by the children during the event will come together and make up a giant banner which will be displayed on the wall between Baltic and The Sage Gateshead.
